User 1: I give this projector a four star rating. I am pleased based on the results I have got so far after tweaking (This is NOT my first projector. I upgraded from a Mitsubishi HD1000u). Here are my observations…
I have had a very pleasing movie experience thanks to it’s high resolution which is quite close to what you get in a 2k digital cinema (I have a 145″ diagonal screen and view from about fifteen feet). If you want to really take advantage of this projector’s resolution, get a well-mastered blu-ray disc.
You don’t get jet blacks with this projector like you’d get from either a DLP or LCD projector. However, that doesn’t bother me since real cinema movies don’t even have jet blacks for blank screens. In my opinion, this projector provides something closer to the reality you’d get from cinema.
I really doubt if you can find a better projector within this price range with respect to the quality of image delivered. I recommend it.

User 2: I give this one a five star rating. If you want to enjoy a 1080p projector without having to take out a second mortgage, this one will fill your need. However, as with everything in life, you need to ensure that it is exactly what you want. Here are points you can pick from my experience with it (First, the pros)…

It is visually appealing. Is NOT noisy when you use it in the normal-bulb mode. You get a lot of lamp life from it (about 4000 hours). You can use it even with lights turned on — In the bright mode. Because it is 1080p, you get superior image details. Just watch a good blu-ray disc with it and you’d appreciate how awesome it is. You’d also love your video games more if you use this — It gives you an unfair advantage over your opponents who are just using normal HDTV especially if you are using a very large screen.
You get a lot of options for tweaking. However, I personally prefer the Cinema mode. It comes with a calibration disc so you can adjust settings to your personal taste. Automatic shut-off feature is a very good thing especially if you don’t use it alone or want to avoid leaving it turned on after it’s been used for whatever reason.
Now to the negatives of the Optoma Hd20…
The blacks are NOT as good as you’d get from a good HDTV. It didn’t ruin the viewing experience for me but I just chose to point it out in case this is a real big issue for you. Furthermore, I discovered that you’d get better blacks from this projector after the bulb has gone for more than 200 hours.
If you attempt to tweak things beyond a point, you could actually mess things up leaving you with either washed out whites, for example. My experience is that I was pretty better off with out-of-the-box settings but that might be expected as I am NOT good in this calibrating stuff.
Another issue I have is that it doesn’t come with an auto-focus feature. For folks who have theirs in a fixed position, this shouldn’t be a concern but if you move it around then you’d find that this would have been a very handy feature.
But with all I have said, I still give this projector a five star rating for the simple reasons that it really overdelivers for a product within its price range. Do a research and see by how much projectors with similar features and performance are more expensive. If you get this projector and have a good screen, you won’t go to a movie again because you won’t need to.

Optoma Ceiling Mount
User 1: I love this mount as it comes with great features for leveling the projector. Installation was a lot easier thanks to the adjustment knobs. If you are looking for a mount that’s easy to install and gives you the option of choosing a number of ways to install it, go for this one.
User 2: I give this mounting kit a five star rating. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than universal mount but I consider the extra you pay to be worth it. It was easy to fit to my HD20 as it slid easily onto the base plate. This is a solid mount that won’t bulge under pressure. But there’s one thing I would have loved to have on it: The ability to adjust the mount from left to right. As it is now, it only allows for vertical adjustments. Though this feature would have made installation easier, this is still a very good mount. I recommend it highly to anyone who owns the Optoma HD20.
User 3: This Optoma ceiling mounting kit gets a five star rating from me. If you are looking for a product that delivers what it promises, this is it. If you want a mount that is easy to use, this is it.

User 1: This one is a five star product — It does an excellent job and comes at a good price. Although set up took quite a bit of time, it was easy. The quality of the pictures is impressive for a 720p project provided you calibrate it. Everything comes out right. I also love the way it scales 1080p content. I am really happy with this purchase and even my wife is impressed with its performance (She’s NOT easy to impress).
User 2: If you are expecting a projector that will compete with top-end projectors, this isn’t it nor was it meant to be. For the price, it’s definitely a very good one. It gives good colors all coming at the right brightness and black levels. So if you want something with the $700 range that does very well, here it is.
That said, I have two issues with it: You need to calibrate it first before you get the impressive delivery. Out-of-the-box settings should have been a lot better. Also, the remote’s layout isn’t the best out there. But I consider this to be too minor an issue to affect my purchase decision but it’s good to point out in case it is a big deal for you.
If you can’t afford a $2k projector and have less than $800 to spend, this is a good one to pick.

*It comes with basic controls that are quite straightforward. If you are an advanced user, there are settings available for you to mess around with calibration (I personally don’t tamper with this as I don’t have the experience in this
*It does a good job if your viewing is in ambient light.
*It comes at a price that more folks can handle.
If you can spend more money on a projector and will be watching in a predominantly dark room, then you’ll get a better experience from the HD20. But with that said, I am still happy with my purchase.

User 1: This is a very impressive performer and so gets a five star rating from me. If you are looking for a projector that has good resolution, stellar brightness performance, with low level of audible noise even if performing is standard brightness mode, then you should get this projector — And if you are NOT ready to spend a couple of thousands yet on a projector.
User 2: This is simply awesome and deserves the five star rating I am giving it. I get a picture quality that is simply amazing even with the lights one. After hours of use, it stays the same temperature. It works quietly enough for my liking. This is a projector I’d recommend to anyone who’s thinking along these lines.

User 3: I consider this to be my best purchase ever. A friend had bought a projector for $2,500 and I was really impressed by what I saw so I thought I should get one too. However, I can’t cough out that sort of amount for a projector at this moment so I decided to go for the GT700 making up my mind that getting a 25% of what I saw from my friend’s projector would still make this purchase worthwhile.

It turned out that I wasn’t getting 25% percent of what I saw from my friend’s top-of-the-range projector that cost almost $1900 more. I was getting a performance that was quite close. It works well in different light conditions but gives you that super cinema quality if you watch in the dark.
Set up took little time as it was easy and I was already watching HD TV on a 12 foot wall all within 20 minutes from the time I opened the box.
I must warn you that you’ll NOT enjoy watching TV even on a 52 inch once you’ve watched this for some time. This definitely comes recommended by me.

User 1: I give this impressive 3D projector a five star rating. Here are my observations based on the time I have used it…
*Delivers very good 2D images that are comparable with what you’d get from a Sony VPL-AW10.
*Delivers impressive 3D quality.
*It has a solid build — Much more solid than what I expected from the pictures I saw before buying it.
*Ability to control brightness levels without living the movie.
*Works very well with DLP link glasses.
*You will get a better movie experience if you turn the PureMotion feature off. You should use it for high speed sports and things like that.
If you are looking for a 3D projector, I know this is a good one based on my experience with it so far. I recommend it.

You get very sharp pictures, top-quality 3D — Everything you’d expect from a wonderfully engineered projector. Comparing it with my Epson 1080Pro, it does a better job than it once it comes to 3D. You just have to see it to believe. And, bear in mind that it comes close to $2,000 cheaper than the 1080Pro (You can see why this purchase has got me excited).
Just note, though, that you won’t get the best of blacks when viewing dark scenes. However, this is a minor issue for me since the colors are generally superb and natural. If you really want to get the feeling you are right there, this one give you that experience.
Go ahead and buy this projector if you have been putting it away. It’s one purchase I can guarantee you won’t regret in any way.
